- What is an e-stamp, and is it valid in Bihar?
- An e-stamp is a computer-generated, tamper-evident proof that stamp duty has been paid, administered by SHCIL (the Central Record Keeping Agency). It is legally valid and carries a verifiable Unique Identification Number (UIN). Where e-stamp is not available for a particular denomination, physical non-judicial stamp paper is used instead.
- How much stamp duty do I need?
- It depends on the document: an affidavit is ₹100 (Article 4); a simple "letting on rent" agreement is 0.5% of the total rent (Article 35-A); sale/gift deeds are 6% (gender-adjusted). Use our Bihar Stamp-Duty Calculator for the exact figure — from the official chart, not the wrong numbers many sites publish.
- Do you sell e-stamps directly?
- No. Only SHCIL-authorised collection centres may issue e-stamp certificates. We facilitate the purchase through an authorised centre and show the stamp duty as a separate, un-marked-up government charge; our service fee is shown separately.
